Presented by
Center for Analysis and Prediction of Storms
National Weather Center
University of Oklahoma
with computing resources provided by the
National Center for Supercomputing Applications
and the
Pittsburgh Supercomputing Center
and the
OU Supercomputing Center for Education and Research

Using the Advanced Regional Prediction System (ARPS), CAPS produces daily forecasts at 20, 9 and 3 km resolutions in support of current and future CAPS research. These forecasts are designed to provide verification input to the model development effort.

Welcome to the CAPS ARPS user web pages.

The CAPS realtime will be moving to a new and faster supercomputer at OU. Watch for upcoming changes.

Watch for extra run with names that start with "mesoh" during hurricane season.

CAPS is located in the National Weather Center.

Daily ARPS and WRF forecasts are run on the OSCER supercomputers. Some of the forecasts run are in support of LEAD - "Linked Environments for Atmospheric Discovery".

OU Supercomputers have routine maintenance scheduled on Wednesdays from 8am to 10pm. On these days, forecasts will be cut short. LEAD10 analyses are moved to a LEAD computer system during the weekly maintenance slot.
